Essa,
If after the number of years you have spent as a diplomat, you still don't
understand the dynamics of international relations and the veil behind
diplomatic speeches, then you must be really dumb. Diplomatic protocols,
norm, etiquettes or whatever it is call does not allow you diplomats to
utter public statements that would be embrassing against against other
friendly States. Diplomats only resort to doing so in public against other
friendly governments to satisfy the expectations of their domestic audience,
powerful foreign powers or those of the international community. Even in
such situations, the affected party would have been assured that the purpose
is to fulfil the irresistable expectations of others and not to cause
embrassment or a diplomatic rift. If you don't understand the game of
international diplomacy, i am recommending that you should watch the
satirical comedy Yes Minister, it might help you. Considering the hypocrisy
inherent in international diplomacy, should one therefore wonder why there
is so much conflict around the world, i don't think so.
About wade's praise of Jammeh, If it wasn't ironical then what is it? the
truth? Summary execution of arrested alledged coup plotters (Nov. 11), the
gruesome murder of a cabinet minister ( no investigation). It was a former
cabinet minister who said that Koro was murdered by members of the military
junta. Frequent abductions and torture of opposition members, massacre of
unarmed student demonstrators, the result: indeminty for all their killers.
Arson attacks, Imprisonment without trial of Dumo and co and threats to
maim and kill others. This is the record of Jammeh, Is this a man who
uphelds the rule of law and justice? Your conscience will say no but your
mouth will continue to say yes, he is the man. For God's sake, why can't you
be honest and stop the distortions of fact on this forum? Do you think your
salaries and allowances are coming from Jammeh's inheritance. No, President
Jammeh was a pauper when he assumed the throne, so it could not be from him.
Essa, it is the Gambian taxpayers who are paying your wages. As there was
yesterday, and there is today, tommorrow will come.

The yoke of oppression must be shattered!

BMK
