Bro LJD,
Thanks for your rejoinder.

There is something at stake here. If my memory serves me well, you will further agree it was this National Assembly that drafted the much talked-about draconian law that Deyda of the Point fought which cost him his life.

The doors of the Independent Newspaper are still closed; Sister Fatou & Lamin Fatty’s cases are still in Limbo; no fruition on Deyda’s death, i.e. to say the dossier was a shame to humanity; Chief E. Manneh is no where to be seen or heard; Justice Darboe’s throat was marked with cuts and et cetera…together with the many other known cases - Omar Bah, Yaya Dampha, and the countless others. These law makers haven’t been talking about these matters yet they are supposed to be guardians of the law. It forces me to ask the question as to whether we only have salary collectors in the house of parliament, or may be to ask if they are so terrified that they cannot speak on such matters.

So what would be a true negotiating point here?
-The Media vs. Parliament

As far as I am concerned, the state has very repressive laws on Gambian journalists. Jammeh is not the only one running the show. He is aided by the green-boys and the green-girls. These are the people who terrorized our nation’s people. It is always important to know the characters you are dealing with.

To me, it is simple: You are either supporting terror or you are against it, because if any one’s father or brother is cold-bloodily murdered, I would think they will distant themselves from such individuals.

I would end by saying that it is ok to engage them under the current atmosphere, but trust me; the likes of Fatou Jahumpha Ceesay will sell any one for positions. In 2005, I tried to interview her on the phone, all she was doing was to resemble Yaya Jammeh with God, and I lost patience with her. During Halifa’s victory, I called her on the phone, she falsely informed me that Halifa supporters (NADD) beat her to death, dragged her naked and that it was neighbors who came to her rescue. I called the political divide as well to get the other side of the story, it turns out that she was hallucinating. During the presidential elections, she hanged me up on the phone several times in trying to get a reaction about developments of the election at the time. The so-called 10,000 man march was also spear-headed by the Fatou Jahumpas. Further, you will ask about that ten-thousand march. It was because of the alleged foiled coup. Isn’t something funny here because Yaya Jammeh himself came through a coup d’tat? That is hypocrisy at its best.

Good luck to Sister Ndey Tapha Sosseh and the entire media fraternity.

I rest my case!

Your take is quite sensible.

The problem was never the GPU. If the meeting was covered by GRTS, it would place a totally different, and meaningless slant on what transpired.

On the issue of Chief Ebrima Manneh, both the Minority Leader, and the Speaker were mistaken in suggesting that the matter was sub judice, and as such they could not discuss it in the National Assembly. Even if the Gambia Government appealed, the fact remains that a judgement favouring Manneh was made by the Community Court of Justice. critical phase of the --- On Sun, 6/7/08, Y Jallow <[log in to unmask]> wrote:

Our good sister, Ndey Tapha-Sosseh sensibly did good by reaching out to the National assembly, but it is important for her to fully know who she is dealing with -the likes of Speaker Jahumpha Ceesay known to be mere puppets and praise-singers of tyranny over time.. Their likes failed to condemn the atrocities committed by the Jammeh administration, probably because their family members or friends are not affected. One clearly sees political selfishness and you wonder what happened to sincerity if at something like that exist. Political hypocrisy, greed, power excessiveness, self-denial and mere ‘tamandaing jalinding lafta palasohla.’

When I open my eyes, I see a day when many among them will regret and shamefully bow in utter shame or pretend to be honorable among decent Gambians. In the past one year, I avoided threading about some of them because to me, her deeds are plain for each and everyone to know the chameleon individual she is. It is also a known fact; Jammeh has succeeded in making them trash objects. The list knows no bounds.

May Almighty God protect us from the fittah of such hypocrites; the fittah & evil of which they are created. Amen!!

I personally hail her courage to call for justice for the late Deyda & the missing Chief E. Manneh.
