Phoday Saikouba Jarjussey has won a seat in the Hayes Council elections
held yesterday by a comfortable margin. The 'foreigner' as the Daily
Observer chose to refer to PBSJ is a British-Gambian who during his
relatively short stay in the UK blended well with the local community of
Hayes of which he served in an exemplary manner as community leader and
Labour Party activitist. Phoday brings into his new job a wealth of
experience as a former senior Gambian civil servant and a historian in his
own right. Gambia should be proud of one her ablest sons. We wish Phoday
well in the rough and tumble of British politics.
