Freedomnewspaper's anthems stood against a flying  vampire.

Freedomnewspaper's recent  silence was meant to be a 'come-back' with stout 
muscles.We are so pleased  with our esteemed readers.This silence was a 
blessing in disguise. This silence  was what we call 'method cleansing', that is,we 
have  been working  hard to strengthen our fences against dark and wild baboons 
from the  wilderness. 
 
The recent attack against this paper reminds us of the  old movie 
KILIMANJARO,where baboons went against the laws of tranquility. They  ate people,leaves, 
and cockroaches. They did not spare anything along the way  because angry 
baboons are not the same as hungry baboons. 
 
Hungry baboons eat bananas whereas angry baboons hate  normalcy. Baboons are 
usually angry when stopped from trampling upon the fences  of good gardens or 
flourishing orchards. The type of baboons we saw in our  fields were sent from 
the State house in Banjul. They came in full force  gnashing their bloody 
teeth. These baboons had computers before them,they hacked  essence. They 
replaced that very essence with nonsense. 
 
The world is lucky that these baboons were not here  during the year 2000's 
Y2K threat. The world is lucky that these baboons from  Banjul,Taipei and Italy 
are not all that sophisticated. What would they have  done if they had the 
knowledge of Bill Gates? What would they have done if they  had the knowledge of 
Al Gore? What would they have done if they had the  knowledge of Einstein? 
Lucky we! The baboons could NOT swing their tails and  rejoice because there are 
agile leopards ready to pounce back.
 
This paper has been proven right. As a matter  of fact a disturbed dictator 
could not have done anything else  different. What else? Other than use our 
country's resources only  to wage a war against freedom of expression! Looking at 
the pictures  of those journalists on line,thanks to reporters without 
borders,we as Gambians  feel the shame in our veins. We feel the shame because we 
are in 2006,six years  into the new millennium when we are being shackled by a 
semi-illiterate called a  president. Our limbs are being hacked by the fangs of 
a ruthless dictator  cum a flying vampire.
 
This is not the era of sheaths and swords,it is the era  of science and 
conscience.This should not have been an era of force and  brute,it is expected to 
be  the era of knowledge and wisdom.As the old  dictum goes..."It is only the 
wise who know God" He or she who hates peace is  not wise. He or she who hates 
being told the truth is not wise. He or she who  hates seeing the difference 
between praises and constructive criticism is  not wise. 
 
He or she who plans to kill and then rejoice after a  sorrowful funeral is 
not wise. He or she who sees national development as a cake  to be hoarded in a 
chamber is not wise. He or she who sees this world as an ever  lasting stream 
of milk and honey is not wise. Wsidom matches freedom because  freedom matches 
dedication. Freedom is never cheap. Freedom cannot be tested  because freedom 
is a SCORE. A score is an outcome of a test. He or she who wants  to test 
tests is not sane.
 
The word free has been before Mandela's name for 27  years. Finally Reuben 
Island was choked to death. Neslon is out  of a dark den and out for ever!
No more Free Nelson Mandela! Today we are using this  freedom where brother 
is killing brothers. Where brother is killing sisters.  Stop the mayhem 
brother! Stop it!Freedom cannot be tested because it is a score.  Bob Marley said 
so..."None of them can stoppa da time!" Can you stop the  time?
