Brother Oku,
My initial reaction is beautiful, beautiful. You have lived up to
the challenge. You have encompassed in your poetry the symbols, the culture,
the songs, the people and the environment that is characteristic of a typical
Nawet season in Banjul.

Just think for a moment, the rhythm of life that surrounds these
events; the harmony that creates a relaxed environment in which people can
sing, dance, pursue adventures, enjoy each other's company and build a strong,
vibrant community that is value driven and cohesive.

You have captured it all in this "cultural" poetry. You have taken
me back, and indeed anyone else who lived in this period, to the joys of Nawet
when we sing:

"Pecha yi yep yep dem nen ndorani, ndorani man rek ma fi des," as we
watched soaring in the sky high above the flock of migration birds in a
beautiful formation flying past.

I will comment more as I write through the whole poem. Great Job.

          Rene
