This message comes from Bromsgrove, near Birmingham in the UK. North Bromsgrove High School has had a long-term friendship link with Armitage Senior Secondary School in the Central River Division since 1987.

Karamo visited us in 1993, along with teacher Hassoum Ceesay who is now Curator at the Gambia National Museum. (We have invited many students and staff over the years.)

Now Karamo is qualified, and working in a bank in the USA and he has seen fit to support us and support his old school by sending a donation of $100 towards the new library at ASSS. We have been raising the money - even selling bricks at £5 each - and it is really fantastic that a former student should see fit to help us to help his old school in this way.

If you are in The Gambia do go and have a look at the new library at Armitage in Janjang-Bureh. Lamin Bojang, Head of Building Construction at GTTI is masterminding the work. The walls are finished, the roof is finished, they are working on the window frames and have started the plastering.

There is much still to do before the day when we can see students sitting down there studying, but we're on the way!
If you would like to make a donation please contact me and I can arrange it.

All the best, and thanks again to Karamo,
                                                                       Mike Carrick
