  Comrade

A turnout of 52% in this presidential elections does raise eye-brows as to whether the elections were free and fair. According to statistics, this is the lowest turnout since Presidential Elections were held under the Second Republic. I have gone through the results of previous presidential elections and you are quite right to suggest that these results are inconsistent. It does look as as if 60, 000 hardcore opposition voters stayed away or had their cards bought by the incumbent. Judging from these results, one cannot rule out vote buying as a reason for the Opposition's defeat.

One thing for certain is that despite all the hardship which APRC has brought to the Gambia, the electorate are yet to understand that the only way forward is for a change of government through democratic means. The Gambian electorate have therefore endorsed JAMMEH 'S REIGN OF TERROR. If this is their choice then it is right to say that Gambians are not worth dying for.

  Conteh,
I am sorry you had such a horrible night sleeping. It was a very good night to the majority of the Gambians and that is why you and the minority certainly has a lot of reflection to do.
However, it is not much ado about something, the reality on the ground is very differnt from what is being potrayed here on this List just as many other cyber spaces. It is time for the minority who think that the average Gambain does not know what is good or bad for him/her to recheck themselves whiles they reflect on the the reality. The Gambia has become better under the Jammeh regime and that is what exactly the results showes. The Gambians people who counts, are more sophisticated than the few of us with the 'power' of the keyboard.
I hope we as gambians will forge a relation to work together. Come up with an agenda and talk to the government to have our agenda(s) be considered to promote a better Gambia. After five years again, we can go the polls. Jammeh cannot do it all and he must be naive to think that he can do it all by himslef either. However, with 67% of the votes, he has a lot of capital.
Alieu.

Last night was the most horrible nights that I have slept.
In making comparative analysis between 2001 and 2006
presidential elections, I move to declare that there were
patterns of discrepancies in the results.
