Hi folks,

I suggest that the news of Mr. Saidy's replacement as the DG of GRTS be taken a bit
more soberly by all. Please let us not be tempted into making this thing personal.
Instead, let's wish Mr. Saidy well, and let him ponder the Wollof proverb, "Adouna
poti ndaala ..."

And I would like to thank Mr. Saidy for taking the initiative, and having the guts to
announce this news on Gambia-L, well before anyone else did. Also, he has offered to
continue contributing to Gambia-L, and I hope you all will welcome this. Mr. Saidy
also mentioned that he will remain pro-Jammeh, and pro-APRC, and he has all rights to
maintain those positions. I hope we all respect his rights, even as we continue to
disagree fervently with him, and those he supports.

Finally, may I remind you that even though Mr. Saidy is no longer the DG of GRTS, we
should not let down our guard. If we do, we'd then be saying in effect that whatever
problems we had with GRTS were because of Mr. Saidy, and not based on a desire for a
GRTS that's professional run, and working toward the benefit of Gambians. For this
reason, we should watch Mr. Mboge (or whoever is appointed as Mr. Saidy's permanent
replacement) just as vigorously as we did Mr. Saidy.

My 2 bututs.

Have a great weekend, and best wishes.

Katim
