<HTML><FONT SIZE=3 PTSIZE=10>Functioning democracies have strong legislatures, independent judiciaries and executive branches that work in a structured arrangement to serve as a check on one another enabling the citizens to foster and enjoy a free society. Consequently ideas flourish , consensus are often reached and every citizen is afforded a fair shake at opportunity. This , list members is the foundation to peace and prosperity.<BR> <BR> Contrast these tenets to what we have in Gambia whose president calls himself an elected democrat when all available evidence points to a man who rigged, tortured and murdered his way to an office he could never earn in a ligitimate way.It is one thing to conceed government to an incompetent person who wins fair and square in an openly contested election but quite another to have a tyrant essentially herding a largely vulnerable people to the abyss.
