  Joe,

These are important issues for our nation. However as I argued in the
posting you replied to, how we adress the the question of a coalition
depends on whether we anticipate its demise or evolution; which in turn
determines our attitudes towards party rivals or supposed enemies.

No, the issue is not PDOIS, but rather the importance of the coalition in
terms of what qualities PDOIS was to bring to it. (Let me in passing also
say that, as important as the NADD agenda is, even more crucial is the
question whether or not there is an ORGANIZATION to carry it out. It was in
that context that PDOIS was named).

Also, it was the essence of the question that was important, not PDOIS's
percentage of the vote. That some people used that as a campaign whip is bad
enough. But this question, I am convinced will be raised again in our
post-election discussions on charting a way forward.

  Until then,
  sidibeh
