After more than a decade of celebrating Mother’s Day by the women of
Atlanta under the auspices of Kura Njie, Mam Fatou Njie, Suna Njie and
Anna Sarr including many other prominent women of the Atlanta community,
Gambian men of Atlanta have decided to reciprocate by organizing and
managing all logistics of the 2008 annual Mother’s day picnic in honor of their
women and children in an effort to say “ THANK YOU” in appreciation of all
their efforts rendered in the past years.

This historic event will take place:

Date: Sunday, May 11th, 2008- Mother’s Day.

Place @ The YMCA on Campbellton Road

Time: Sunday, May 11th, 2008 at 4pm.

The idea has been regarded as a very laudable effort and endeavor by
significant members of the Atlanta Gambian community, and one which was
way overdue. In return the women have also agreed and decided to organize
FATHER’s DAY for their men in June.

Such a project could not have been initiated if it were not for the hard work
and vision of Mr. Solomon Sylva - Atlanta’s internationally renowned DJ,
Video/Photography and Sound Engineer, who have gathered and mobilized
community leaders from all sectors of the Atlanta Gambian community
including organizations, businessmen, religious leaders from both the Muslim
and Christian communities.

Although the organizing committee is at it’s infant stage, every SeneGambian
Man in Atlanta is hereby encouraged to lend a helping hand by joining this
worthy endeavor, so that our women will for once be shown how special and
appreciative we are for every effort they give us by helping raise our families,
not to mention their contributions towards the daily struggles of life in
America.

For more information on how to join us in making this event possible and to
help donate to this project, please call or contact:

Solomon Sylva -(770) 634-7687.

Current volunteers are as follows:
