Comrades:

I am planning to attend the African American Student Leadership Conference
at Rust College, MS. For those around Memphis, TN, please e-mail me if you
want to ride with me. I will arrive in Memphis around 9:00 AM, on Friday,
January 13.

Dr. Stovall faxed me the following info:

"The Seventh National African American Student Leadership Conference will
be held on the campus of the historically Black Rust College located in
Holly Springs, Mississippi. The conference is designed to address issues
of liberation and to examine analysis of progressive African American
leadership models, past and present. Participants will be expected to
assist in outlining revolutionary leadership paradigms for the future.
Issues involving the struggles of Black students on predominantly white
campuses/survival strategies, shaping mass movements, connection with
African and building progressive African American student organizations, as
well as Black female and male relationships will be discussed and analyzed.
The theme of the 2001 Conference is connecting progressive African minds
for effective leadership: a continuing legacy..."

Comrades, I intend attending only the Gambia presentation at 5:00 p.m. Dr.
Stovall told me that the Gambian students will be available for open
discussion. My feeling is that Tombong and Yankuba might be there. I do
not believe that their invitations were rescinded. If they do not show-up,
I will make sure that the student body knows why? We also do not have to
pay for any registration, since we are availing ourselves in defending our
country and calling for democracy.

Naphiyo,

Comrade ML Jassey-Conteh
