The following is from the Daily Observer. How does this years price compare
to last year's given the value of the Dalasi?

Farmers to get D3,250 per ton .Trade season starts Dec 2

The price for a metric ton of groundnut has been set at D3,250. This was
announced by the Agric Business Services Plan Association (ASPA), the
inter-professional body charged with the marketing of the Gambia's groundnut
sub-sector in consultation with Government.
A release from ASPA further stated that this year's price was arrived at by
using the officially recognised producer price determination mechanism which
takes into account the world market price for groundnut products as well as
parameters and other relevant things to the domestic marketing system. ASPA
has urged farmers to sell their produce through the existing marketing
outlets (cooperative societies and buying points) and to pay their credits
"for the growth and sustainability of the sector".
