Hi!
Like many members of the L, I am truly disturbed by events back home.
The cowboyism/opportunism displayed by the security forces with the
resultant destabilising and dangerous effects can only be fatal to the
interests of Gambia and Gambians. The country is not anyone's chess or
draught board to play with and toss around. The games being played do not
take place in a vacuum. They affect real beings - Gambians. Have all
involved paused to consider the implications of their escapades? Apart from
the violence and destruction that can be wrought on our dear Gambia, have
those who are playing with Gambia's stability considered the economic and
resultant social implications of their actions? Remember the British Travel
Advice of some years back and the hardship it brought upon innocent,
hardworking Gambians? Do we want a repeat?
I am therefore urging all involved to shelve their selfish interests and
consider the security and stability of our dear country. Examples abound in
our part of the world of the results of militarism. We do not want to be
next Sierra Leone, Liberia etc. Thanks.

Buharry.
