This is the story of young man who joined a discussion forum nearly 4yrs
ago, to take part in discourses with his fellow country mean and women in
the hope that putting heads and resources together would eventually free
their people, held hostage and in bondage by a brutal dictatorship. This
dream has not yet been fulfilled but it has come a long way, and slowly but
surely it will get there.

Ninety nine percent of the time (or he would like to think ::-) he
listened/read and learnt a lot, and in return contributed here and there and
hoped that at least other people too have learnt a thing or two from him.
This discussion forum has some of the time brought a lot of sadness, as the
situation in his dear country just seems to get worse by the day and the
frustration with, and sense of disbelief in people who purportedly care for
that country yet act in anyway but that, was heart wrenching to put it
mildly.

It was not all hopelessness and waste of time, arguments and insults,
bickering and backbiting (albeit cyber style), the time and experience has
brought along a whole lot of hope for a country that is crying out for
rescue from his sons and daughters spread over the entire surface of the
earth. He has come to know and have tremendous respect for people who would
rather be disowned by their families than to live a life of lie, and who
won't kowtow to murderers and thieves even if their very lives depended on
it. Those were the people who gave him much hope for his country. They live
in cities, villages far and near him, they live in Banjul, Stockholm, Oslo,
London, Birmingham, Manchester, Oxford, Atlanta, Arizona, New York, etc, (he
truly believes and also fervently prays) that sooner or later those young
and not very young men and women would come to save his country from the
madmen and women who are hell bent on it's total destruction.

This was a passage where friendships (if not outmost respect) have come to
be given to a whole lot of people (though perhaps not shown as such), but as
with everything else in human nature, there are schism and trials &
tribulations, moments when anger boiled to the surface and all control is
lost, and it seems as 'mayhem' itself signed a pact with 'Satan' and said
"go forth, follow Gambians around and sow discord and disharmony amongst
them".

Verbal warfare has been waged by him and honestly some of his actions are
disgraceful and very childish but as he is not a robot but human with
emotions, he takes it all in his stride. He has come to understand and see
the point of views of some subscribers more than others, but it was not done
intentionally so as to alienate others with differing but yet valid points
of views. But despite all those trials and tribulations he reckons/hopes
people would see his sometimes 'out-of-order' actions as a sign of his utter
sense of helplessness. He begs forgiveness for those he wronged.

GambiaL was a school, it taught him things his nearly 8yrs of higher
education never came even close to matching, and with that he gives his
thanks and gratitude to god and the 'Lers' (as he fondly likes to call
them).

People of the L, this is the story of Dave Manneh and with that he says god
save The Gambia from the clutches of Lucifer and his gang of plunderers,
ciao my fellow Lers until our paths cross again, which could be much sooner
or much later, who knows how the great lord above works, but as things stand
now, he sees no usefulness in his continued contributions to the discourses
on the list as it might inadvertently sow more discord, which is the last
thing he needs or wants.

Oh Lucifer, How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning !
how art thou cut down to the ground which didst weaken the nation ! --Is.
xiv. 12.

NB: I would be subscribed on the L as it has a such a magnetic pull on me,
(don't ask me why) but as with everything else in life there are always
alternatives if one tries hard enough (not better or otherwise, but
ALTERNATIVE all the same)

Manneh
