Folks,

I was away from email the week the Yusupha Jow controversy occured. Upon
returning a week later, I resubscribed Yusupha Jow to the list because:

1. There was no management consultation to set his account to NOPOST so I
reverse that decision without management consultation too.
2. What prompted me to reverse the decision doesn't have anything to do with
management being pressured as stated in Momodou's mail but because I do not find
Yus' post offending. I do not condone name calling but the expression he used
translates to multiple meanings, so in that spirit I resubscribed him because
words do have different meanings.

I do not read majority of the mails on the list because I simply cannot keep up
with gambia-l but the occasional mails I read, I've seen stronger language from
people that are very intolerant of others who have opposing views from them, and
these folks are still on the list.

Yusupha may have contributed a lot to this struggle but that doesn't give him
the license to insult or labell people. For Yusupha to throw tantrum and utter
the words that his presence will be felt on this list is pure arrogance and
beyond my understanding. What makes him think this list will suffer because of
his absence? Yus should understand that no man is indispensable. Others have
equally contributed to the struggle but have not shown the level of arrogrance
he displayed. Yus should also stop the personal attacks on the management team.
Let us stop the name calling and debate maturely.

Members of the management team, in these trying times in our country, tempers
are bound to flare and inflame because of this I ask you to exercise caution and
prudence. I plead with you to be tolertant and exercise restraint. On that
note, I bid you farewell, I'm removing myself from the management team.

Let us pray for peace and tranquility in our dear country!!!

sarian
