Mr. Sidibeh, the purpose of publishing these correspondences between opposition leaders on the net is as important as talking to the Gambian with the valid voter's card at home. We are not going to vote but we have a roll to play therefore, we deserve to know whether UDP/NRP and NADD would work together or not. Daily Gambians/ Friends of the Gambia around the world are calling, emailing to find out what is going on hence, it is only few weeks left before the election. It is as simply as that.

Much more these documents are already out on some of the News Papers.

  Fellow Compatriots,

Just what exactly is the purpose of publishing these correspondences between
the opposition leaders on the net?
True, we are all of us in this, and access to information is often
invaluable, especially now that deadlines are swiftly approaching. But
whatever the gains, the effect of publicity is to help demonise one leader
while the other appears beyond reproach, thereby making a rapprochement
between the two blocks even more difficult. All the while the possibilities
of a coalition which is more important than either NADD or the UDP/NRP
alliance becomes even more remote than formally.
I suspect that it was this reason that led to the NADD executive expressing
confidence in and delegating responsibily to Hon. Halifa Sallah to conduct
all negotiations in private with Ousainou Darboe until when a decision is
reached. To our dismay, we all learnt very publicly, that Mr. Amat Bah
betrayed this privacy.

Similar circumstances produced difficulties during the initial leadership
selection process, when information that should have remained confidential
(in my opinion) found its way into Pa Nderry Mbai's online paper.

I cannot see any purpose for such publicity deserving more merit than the
secrecy that is called for before an agreement is reached.

Cheers,
Momodou S Sidibeh
