Now safely back from my working visit to San Francisco, I want to pay
tribute to my Gambian Brothers and Sisters who have made their homes in this
area of California.

It was good to meet faces new and old:

Thank you Sister Sarian Loum for the wonderful "benachin" and "nan mburru".
Good food and good company !! I was so happy to get to know you. By the
way, I miss the beautiful West Coast weather!

Thank you, my old friend Bekai Keita: we were good friends in our "Darra"
days, and it's excellent to know that you have made the most of your
opportunities. I was really pleased to be able to spend some quality time
with you and wife Haddy Faal: thank you both for making me so welcome.

Thank you, my name sake, Ebrima N. Ceesay, a Gambian software engineer at
APPLE, for making me feel so welcome to California !! I am praying that all
your dreams for you and yours will come true, and I am looking forward to
welcoming you to the UK.

WEST AFRICAN COOKING AS GOOD AS MY MOTHER'S !!

It was wonderful to find a Gambian restaurant which serves traditional West
African meals cooked to perfection - and in California !

The venue is the KERR SAMBA RESTAURANT on Telegraph Avenue in Oakland, CA: -
just over the Bay Bridge from San Francisco.

THE OWNER

Mr J.C.Loum - formerly a Hawks FC soccer player (remember him in the 1985
Zone 2 Tournament ???) and now a highly successful Gambian Entrepreneur in
California.

J.C., also known as Jeggan in the area, is a Real Estate Specialist with an
intimate knowledge of the California area: his business interests are
broad, and JC is always around to offer specific and more general advice to
anyone interested in establishing themselves in the US western states. Get
in touch with him to discuss possibilities for yourself. His Office phone:
510 601 8348

THE RESTAURANT - "Kerr Samba"

Conveniently and centrally located in Oakland, just half an hour away from
busy San Francisco city, the restaurant boasts exceptional food, big screen
TV (including the BBC World Channel), fantastic music, and space for close
on a hundred diners.

THE CHEF

Wonderful West African cuisine lovingly cooked by Senegalese Chef Ndey Gaye
and her team. I ate Chicken Yassa, which was out of this world ! The house
Ginger Juice was fantastic !

MY VERDICT

Don't miss it!!!!

It's worth a long, long journey to eat West African food as good as this,
and in such a pleasing atmosphere.

I'LL BE BACK ... AND SOON !!!!
