Folks,

All the noise aside...let's get to work. We have a bigger plate to clear
than that on this list. "Alieu Keita", "Essa Sey", ....all this is
nonesensical distraction! We know better than folks. We've seen it
before....how soon do we forget?

The story below culled from the point via AllAfrica.com is a clear
manifestation of the stance taken by the opposition...atleast UDP. I welcome
Waa's and UDPs' audacity to take the APRC to task. We should all stand by
them to make sure that the DIRIMO is driven out of his dang hole!
Read On.

Juwara Calls On Exiles To Come Home, If Dr. Saho Stands

The Point

Banjul

Lamin Waa Juwara UDP national organising secretary has declared that the
Gambian people will ask all those who have been banned under Decree 89,
especially Sherrif Mustapha Dibba, Hassan Musa Camara, Omar A Jallow and
others to participate in politics if the ruling APRC party adopts Dr. Lamin
Saho as their candidate for the bye elections in Central Baddibu
constituency. Speaking in an exclusive interview, Mr. Juwara said the move
by the APRC to adopt Dr. Saho as their candidate is a deadly blow to the
ruling APRC party.

The adoption of Dr. Saho, Mr. Juwara said shows once again that there was no
justification for the July 1994 military takeover. Mr. Juwara said Saho and
other politicians in the ousted PPP regime were unjustifiably banned under
Decree 89. If Saho is adopted by the APRC as a candidate for Central
Baddibu, it will show to the whole world that what obtains in the Gambia is
a dictatorship, as even the laws promulgated by the government can be
violated with impunity by president Jammeh, Mr. Juwara argued.

Mr. Juwara further asserted that the appointment of Bubacarr Baldeh as the
APRC deputy mobiliser violates Decree 89. "How can anybody take this regime
seriously when there is no rule of law and no sense of direction?," Mr.
Juwara asked. Mr. Juwara wondered how those who were declared corrupt and
banned from taking part in natioanal politics, and their properties
confiscated, could now be adopted as honourable members of the National
Assembly by the same government.

The APRC government has totally failed in their villification of politicians
and public servants of the First Republic, Mr. Juwara declared. Mr. Juwara
said if Dr. Lamin Saho is duly nominated, he will ask all Gambians in exile
including Sir Dawda Jawara, Bakary Bunja Darboe, Saikou Sabally and others
to return to the country because their continuing exile could not be
justified by the APRC.

Noting that ex-president Jawara had only three Justice ministers in 30
years, Mr. Juwara further said president Jammeh cannot be a law unto
himself, and that Gambians should not accept anymore to be taken for a ride.
The APRC is a sinking ship which is now begging former PPP ministers to bail
them out, Mr. Juwara said.
