Dear Essa,
Gambia-L is run on LISTSERV 1.8d software at the moment and not lost proc.
Sorry if you found some familiar list proc instructions in the guidelines. This
is because the user manual mentioned in the guidelines was written when Gambia-
l was hosted at the University Washington an running on a LIST PROC.

The online manuals for the current program LISTSERV 1.8d are at
http://www.lsoft.com/info/default.asp?item=manuals

The most interesting manuals to read there are:

1. General User's Guide to LISTSERV® 1.8c
http://www.lsoft.com/manuals/1.8d/userindex.html

2. List Owner's Manual for LISTSERV® 1.8d
http://www.lsoft.com/manuals/1.8d/ownerindex.html

The current members adding and maintaining the list are List Owners but we have
all been used to the TITLE "List managers" since the beginning of Gambia-l.
Just call us subscriber assistants if you feel comfortable with that:-) Adding
and unsubscribing members is so easy and anyone on this list can do it.

Apart from adding members and helping unsubscribing them, we also configure the
list. However, each subscriber can also make their own subscription settings
and its just a matter of reading the message they receive when they are added
to the list and the General User's Guide above.
More on what the Owners are doing can be read in the List Owner's Manual above.

It would be great if a list of new subscribers are sent to the list on a weekly
basis but the question is whether we have time for that. Personally I would not
mind resuming in making the subscriber list available to all members if there
is consensus.

Your suggestions have been very much appreciated and I hope that you share with
us the good tips you might find in the manuals.

Thank you.

Best regards,
