Folks,
I would like to share this Windows tip because I think many of you might
find it very useful. First, let me give credit to my 18 month old daughter.
Yes, kids do the darnest thing but you'll be surprised what you can learn
from them at times. To make a long story short, my daughter was playing
around with my laptop and before I was able to get her off the machine, she
had already pressed a button. Boy, she is quick! Suddenly something pop up
on the screen and it looked like a circle and within the cirlce you have
UP and DOWN arrows with a bold dot in between. I went holy cow, did she do that! Upon investigating, I found out exactly what she did.

She accidentally pressed her index finger right on that middle line(or gap) that separates the left and right mouse buttons. This triggers the
seamless mouse scroller function, a feature I am willing to bet is one of
many Microsoft Windows secrets, perhaps undocumented. The reason I say
that is because Microsoft makes a lot of money selling that IntelliMouse
(retails for $49) whose primary feature is that it gives you an extra
mouse button in the middle so you can seamlessly scroll and peruse through
lenghthy documents/webpages without the burden of having to click or drag
the conventional scrollbar.

So for those people using a standard 2button mouse, this tip may save you
a buck or two. So far I've only tested this in Windows 98. Please let me
know how it works if you are using other windows operating systems such as
windows95/2000 or XP.

1.Also note that in order for this to work , you first open a document, be
  it e-mail or webpage.
2.Then single-click (left click) anywhere on the document. [This step may
be unnecessary in some cases but it does tell the mouse that is page you
want to scroll(it activates the page)].
3.Then you press the area between the two mouse buttons using your index
finger. This pops up the scrolling feature, and depending on the mouse
  you use(Touchpad or 2Button).
4.Simply drag your mouse up or down to peruse through your docs/webpages.

This feature is not limited to documents only. You can peruse through you
important files and folders too.The function's icon however changes when
using files and folders. Hope this works for all of you. If it doesn't e-
mail me in private. If you already knew this trick, then please forgive me
and my daughter. For me, the lesson learned here is as parents,we sometimes
tend to be too strict when kids play around with our expensive toys but we
should never underestimate these kids for you just might not know what you
can learn from them. Let them explore and experiment a little. For instance
the other, my daughter took my pen and ran away. Thinking that she was
going to make a big mess on the wall, I ran after her. Well, this time she
took the paper in my hand and ran again. Kids! Yes, a finally sat and
watched while she writes, perhaps telling me to back off. Sure it wasn't
English, Arabic or Hieroglyphics. Point in case is she was writing. She
held the pen at a 45 dgree angle, between her thumb and right index
finger. Wow!

Cheers!
