BambaLaye and Jabou,
I just sent you all private mails and if you all wish you can make them private. I hope we can all debate with some civility and not go as low as BambaLaye is pushing again. The last time I saw him do that here with Conteh, it was not prety and it is not something I would want to engage in.
Jabou, it sounded like you already made up your mind that the election was stolen. So no matter what I may have would not convince you in any way. Your points are well understood but I wish you can differentiate political campaign speeches with the reality. Remember, the opposition also made their own predictions. Those that mean that they were lying? I think not. I thought they were just trying to fire up their supporters.

Yep, extending the time of poll closing to 6.30 was definitely the icing on
the cake, the closing masterpiece for a well orchestrated window dressing to
make it appear that the APRC was complying with the rule of law. I hear that
most folks did not even know about this extension until it was too late. Yet,
they They did not comply with the high court ruling to stop those not on the
register from voting. Talk about contradictions!

Jammeh supporters staying home because they knew he was going to win? Who
ever heard of such a thing? Well, my good sister Fatou Jahumpa has repeatedly
said that the elections were a foregone conclusion and that Jammeh would win. I
even saw where she predicted a 70% win. Perhaps the Jammeh camp knew
something that the rest of Gambians did not know. Who knows?

As for contesting the time that polling stations close, well Bambalaye
already answered that question. I am sure you know that ours has not been a
country where the citizenry can depend on the constitution or any ruling by the
courts to prevail as evidenced by the voting register issue and so many other
rulings that have been tossed in the garbage.

The APRC keeps pretending they are playing within the rules but then they
are forever contradicting themselves and so they end up looking like someone
dressed to kill but who forgot to put on their pants so their backsides are
exposed for all to see.

Jabou,
There is ceratinly a possibility of vote buying in every voting including
upto the UN. In America it is defined as lobbying.
However, I would hate to hear that is what the APRC did. I personally think
the oppostion stayed home because they knew Jammeh was going to win. It is
also possible some of the voters who stayed home are Jammeh supporters who knew
he was going to win anyway so why waste time to vote.
The other aspect of this no one is putting into consideration is it rained
heavily in some parts of the country. I remember in Gambia folks used to stay
home and not go to work just because it rained.
If I were an oppostion, the one thing I would not have consented to was to
have to polls closed that early. They were extended to 6:30 PM. That was still
too early. Imagine if they were allowed to close as scheduled at 4:30 PM.

EVERY single area? He did not win only in Foni. The guy won even in Badibu
and
Bakau."

Maybe someone bought their vote and that is why they stayed home. The puzzle
we have to figure out is who engaged in vote buying? The very fact that
Jammeh won everywhere is pretty interesting and could be indicative of other
things aside from all of Gambia just opting to vote overwhelmingly for him.
