I totally agree with this theory, and the statement Yaya reportedly made to
the effect that he knew that the Banjulunkas will never accept him as their
leader is laying the groundwork for exactly such a thing as mentioned here,
playing the tribal card. There is no end to the number of tricks that Jammeh
and his gang will pull out of their hats to cling onto power. However I hope
with all my heart that Gambians will recognize these tricks and remember that
if we succumb to these divisive tactics, then we will turn our coutry into a
blood bath like Sierra Leone, and God knows we cannot let anything like that
happen. These people know they are on their way out, and hence, they do not
care if they leave a path of destruction and chaos behind them so they will
have company in their misery.More than any other time, this is a time for
Gambians to think very clearly, and not to lend themselves to trickery of any
sort.
