Antouman Gaye’s Appeal Case Set for Today
Monday 23rd January 2006

The appeal case demanding the immediate release of Lawyer Antouman Gaye will be heard today at the Court of Appeal in Banjul, The Point can reveal.

Lawyer Ousainou Darboe has last Friday alongside others filed an appeal against the decision of Justice Paul in sentencing Lawyer Antouman Gaye, judicial sources hinted this paper.

Lawyer Gaye was last Thursday sentenced to three months imprisonment by Justice Paul for failing to settle fully the sum of D1. 5 million when he in 1995 acted as a surety to one Alexander Beck who had jumped bail. Mr Beck was the former managing director of Management Services of The Gambia (MSG), a forerunner of Utilities Holding Corporation now NAWEC.
