Faji Kunda Imam vows to boycott music laden occasions

The Imam of Faji Kunda Central Mosque, Alhagie Ebrima Jaiteh has vowed to boycott Muslims who mix Allah and Satan in their social functions. "With effect from today, we will not attend, let alone recite the Holy Quran at any ceremony that would later be graced with music.

How can you invite Muslims to God but at the same time pay great attention to satan?" he asked. Imam Jaiteh made the above remarks in a sermon he delivered at a naming ceremony at Faji Kunda on Sunday. He wondered why Muslims nowadays fail to honour the principles of Allah and follow Prophet Muhammed's footsteps.

"Naming ceremony is a mere sunnah of Prophet Muhammed which does not require all the things people have added to it." Imam Jaiteh explained that the essence of naming ceremony is to chose proper name for the child as well as slaughter ram for him/her, stressing that music has nothing to do with it.

Another Islamic scholar, Alhagie Janko, advised youths to be mindful of music which is an exploitative device against Muslims. Alhagie Yaya Kalley expressed similar sentiments and urged Muslims to respect the teachings of their Imams.
