January 12, 2006
Minneapolis, MN- Alhamdulillah-Praise be to Allah- for -Eid-Adha.

Eid-Adha (feast of sacrifice of lamb) in Minnesota, USA went very successful as Allahu Akbar (Allah is Great) slogans filled one side of the city under a horrible winter weather condition. Over ten thousand Muslims gathered at the Twin Cities convention center in Minneapolis to seek Allah's Mercy under the leadership of imam Sheikh Idriss Walid. "Today is Eid-Adha and Muslims must pronounce their love for one and another", said one passerby who looked very exited and jubilant.

The Eid prayer was conducted by performing only two rakats. The first rakat was performed after reciting 7 takbirs (pronunciation of Allahu Akbar) and the final rakat was performed after reciting 5 takbirs. The two rakats were followed by a khutba (sermon) that was well delivered by the imam. The eloquent imam Walid reminded the congregation about Prophet Muhammad's (May peace be upon him) last khutba in which he, Prophet Muhammad (May peace be upon him), emphasized the need to respect and love our women who are the true beauty in our households. Imam Walid also called for total unity among Muslims despite recent trials , tribulations, and oppression of the Muslim ummah (community). The imam further reminded the congregation about the need to observe the five daily prayers on time. In a last note sermon, imam Walid asked people to reject slavery of all kind.

Impressed and moved by the love for one and another among the Muslim community, a young man took a vow and converted to Islam in the presence of the congregation. The Muslim community at the pray ground opened their arms and hearts to the new Muslim convert and vowed to help him become a better Muslim.

The sermon, which was delivered in the Arabic language, was also translated in the English language by one of the companions of the imam.
