State prefers 6 fresh charges against Dumo & CO in treason trial

The state has preferred six new charges against Ebrima Barrow, Momodou
Dumo Saho, Momodou Marena, Ebrima Yarbo, Lt Lalo Jaiteh and Lt Omar M
Darboe in the on going treason trial.

During yesterday's sitting, the presiding judge, Wallace Grante,
informed the court that the state filed two additional charges to the
four charges that were preferred against the accused persons. Justice
Grante further informed the court that he had received a medical report
from Lawyer Ousman Sillah indicating that he is sick and indisposed.

Director of public prosecution (DPP) chief Akomaye Agim intimated to the
court that he was withdrawing the former charges against the accused
persons and replacing them with six new charges. DPP further intimated
to the court that he had considered the application filed by the defence
team for the names of Rtd Captain Alagie Kanteh and Saul Ndow to be
removed from the particulars of offence in counts two, three and four of
the charge sheets since they were not present in the court. Lawyer
Sherrif Tambedou who held brief for Lawyer Ousman Sillah, informed the
court that he wouldn't know what Mr Sillah's views would be on the state
preferring new charges against the accused persons.

Lawyer Tambedou however crave the court's indulgence for a short
adjournment to enable Mr Sillah to peruse the new charges and to consult
with his clients before taking their plea. Presiding judge, Justice
Grante, however adjourned the matter to January 23, 2002 for meaning.
