A perfect example of the state encroaching into the lives of ordinary citizens. The next thing you will hear is that no Maanyo Bitoo or no Naming Ceremony on a Friday. I know this sounds funny and more so ridiculous but it is a serious matter that requires us Gambians to harness all political courage to stop this gradual encroachment. It is one thing to force a curfew on the entire nation every last Saturday of the month but another to say you cannot observe a traditional religious gathering that has been going on before Yaya Jammeh was born. What is next?
Must we allow the Office of The President to dictate all aspects of Gambian life?
