I appreciate your bringing to the attention of this forum the good
qualities and decency you noticed in Joe Sambou which I confirm. I believe
the allegations against Joe were totally inappropriate. I knew Joe only as
a soccer star back in the Gambia and I was a fan of his.

I was not particularly interested in the discussion of Joe being a double
agent because one it is non of my business, two the man I met both in
Chicago and twice in Minnesota as a guest to our annual Gambian Women’s
Night does not match the description of a double agent. I would say that my
impression of Joe is that, he is a decent and very generous person. I do
disagree with him on some issues but certainly the guy got my respect for
the amount of time and energy he devotes on the issues of our national
interest. We can only take a man by his words and I believe Joe has Gambia
at heart. I saw some leadership qualities in him and I am sure many that
knew him or met him would agree. I was most impressed by his efforts and
commitment towards making the Chicago conference a success. He was every
where running in the rain, preparing food for the crowd and conversing with
people and making everyone’s presence felt.

My only suggestion for Joe or any other brother would be, if you want to
educate people, change people’s minds or lead people, you most be prepared
and willing to hear and accept certain viewpoints of others that may or may
not agree with yours. Some of the things you hear are going to be
unpleasant and distasteful but you most stay focus as long as you believe
in your cause. I read your entire postings but and times I wish you would
change the tone and don’t take things too personal. You are a valuable
member of this worthy forum and your patience and respect as well as all of
us, would be bountiful. I wish you all the best and keep up the good work
you are doing. Remember we are one Gambia, one people. We all have our
individual weaknesses and strengths, but working together as a team,
putting our political differences aside we could create a strong and better
Gambia for our generations and for generations to come.

Happy mothers day to all our sisters who are mothers.
