Yusupha Jow and Saul Khan or should we say Mike Tyson Vs Holyfield? What is
up with the fussing and fighting? Sorry for butting in folks but please
hold your punches. I'm not trying to be the arbiter either but could anyone
tell me what's going here, because it's beating the living heck out of me
to see two potential comrades fruitlessly fighting over what I consider to
be personal vendettas over one another. If this was a pay-per-view event, I
would have been the first to ask my money back because both contenders will
be losers. Why? Well, this is not a fight for intellectual property. It is
a fight for the restoration of democracy, peace and justice in the Gambia.
Who cares about who went to what school and who did this and who that. Save
it for your grandchildren for browny points. And whoever gave people the
audacity to avenge their personal grievances with fellow list members to be
posted on this public forum. Do some of us assume this forum is for settling vendettas? For crying out Gambia-L is not anybody's personal inbox
and I suggest if people have personal grievance to settle, please save the
decent innocent people of this List the untimely migraine attacks. What
does anyone expect from it at the end of the day, when the dust settles?
A standing ovation? A public humiliation? Either way , it SUCKS. I am very
dissappointed by grown ups using this public forum to settle scores,
especially those who profess to be advocates of justice loving gambians. It
doesn't help one's image and it does questions one sincerity, and to some extent one's level of maturity to be brutally honest. Let us agree to
disagree, but disagree without resorting to personal attacks. Otherwise I
suggest people handle their personal and private matters in their own
privacy. It's a no-brainer. Both parties knew each others private e-mail
addresses. Gambia-L is no one's private e-mail address. It's a public
forum last time I checked. I personally don't give a hoot about personal
vendettas. We must debate constructively or take our personal problems
somewhere else where it rightfully belongs. I still stand corrected that
the average age in this from ranges from 18 and up, but then again maturity
sometimes has nothing to do with age. I don't know about you folks but
it really ruins my day when I am the recipient of someone else's personal
vendetta. I have a low tolerance for people who dwell on personal attacks.
It's not a manly thing to do and frankly doesn't boost one's ego. It is
not unmanly to accept ones shortcomings either. I urge everyone to refrain
from sending personal attacks on this List if they sincerely want to be
taken seriously. I must say I'm very disappointed and disheartened in some
ways with some of the events unfolding lately but this is my 2 cents and
final keystroke on this matter.
                                               Respectfully,
                                               Mr Makaveli

Dear Comrades:

I am really disturbed by your constant quarrels
over the L. We cannot afford to have two
viable opponents of the dictatorship spend
needles time arguing over issues that are not
helping our folks back home.

I am appealing for the two of you to mend fences.
We have a gigantic task ahead of us. We cannot
afford to be out-numbered by dictator yahya
jemus and his stooges.

Naphiyo,

Comrade M.Lamine Jassey-Conteh
