I share yours all other contributors sentiment on this sensitive yet
controllable issue in our society.
A lot have been said and done about FGM. It is up to us, both male and
female of this new generation to take the bold step to distance ourselves
and our offspring from any practice we deem harmful and all the more USELESS
to our well being as individuals or society as a whole.
It takes society to change society. We (I mean brothers and fathers) need to
join our struggling sisters and mothers to make this practice a thing of the
past. It has been with us for so long that our society is virtually "stuck"
with it. We can definitely "unstick" this mentality from within ourselves by
taking the one step necessary.... to EDUCATE, EDUCATE and EDUCATE everyone
about the dangers of such practices. It will be easier for some to buy the
arguments but less easier for others. Our efforts have to be sustained.
