Remember the time Modou Mboge, Pa Samba, Buharry and others were
labelled "programmed fanatics" for sharing a certain political view?
Well, I have not seen any reason to change views. If that day comes, it
would not be manifested through sending material from GRTS or taking
pictures of actual infrastructural changes. Haruna, you know I would
not be afraid to declare my support for and exercise my fundamental
right through the support of any political party be it APRC, UDP or any
other. In fact, I would not even have to worry because I know you would
help defend and protect my fundamental right to join or support any
political party of my choosing not because of your position as the
Executive Director of Global Democracy Project but because of the true

citizen.
fter the coup relieved him of duties as President of Gambia. Sir Dawda
ecame our fellow citizen after Yahya became President. Therefore what
ir Dawda did after the coup d'etat is Sir Dawda's purview. We may hope
or sobriety in his decisions then but he is not accountable to Gambian

urtured in The Gambia, and across the region, following his move to
bandon his colleagues in the struggle for the restoration of democracy
n that impoverished West African country for his own selfish
nterest. He returns home under the disguised of so called amnesty?
nly to compromise all the principles he stood for over the years.

hen President Jammeh initiated the idea of extending an amnesty to
ormer President Jawara, the average Gambia thought that this was going
o be an opportune moment for Jawara to prevail on Mr. Jammeh to
onsider including his former colleagues such as Bakary Bunja Darboe,
aikou Sabally, Sara Jangha, Alkali James Gaye, Kebba Jallow, and
ther PPP exiles overseas on the list of those to be pardoned, but that
as too much for Jawara. Mr. Jawara was only concerned about his
ersonal interest, and that of his immediate family. He accepted Jammeh?
invitation to return home without bothering to consult his former
olleagues.
aving faced possible foreclosure in the UK, amidst financial
ncertainty, Jawara was nearly evicted from his London Home. He could
ot pay for his mortgage. Jawara?s house was later seized, and sold to
rospective buyers.
r. Jammeh was privy to the old man?s plight in the UK, and decided to
ntervene to save Jawara from being thrown out from his repossessed
ondon Home. This was a commendable move on the side of Jammeh to
xtend a helping hand to a suffering former head of state.
espite all the atrocities associated with Jammeh, we believe that he
layed a pivotal role in ensuring that Jawara was not placed on welfare
ousing program in a former colony.
awara has launched all kinds of campaign in the past to disrupt the
ctivities of the former junta headed by Jammeh. He even asked for
estern intervention, but his repeated appeals were ignored. The West
elieved that he Jawara overstayed, and was partly responsible for

llowed to return home without being jailed. There was probable, or
easonable cause to prosecute Jawara for corruption, and abuse of

ersonal guards, and a well furnished private residence in Fajara.
e have high regards for Jawara, but it is our ardent belief that he is
