 Buharry,

Many thanks for a well-written, delightful and important presentation. The
theme reminds me of similar ones we debated and discussed on Gambia-l in
the
late nineties. Discourses on Gambian identity seems to have died under the
overbearing weight of political discourse, perhaps a reflection of the need
to seek first the political kingdom before promoting the cultural empire?

You have raised many interesting issues and these need to be looked into.
But in the meant time, I would like to welcome our Cultural Ambassador,
Monsieur Oko Drammeh, who I noticed has just rejoined Gambia-L. Perhaps he
needs a first look at this important piece of yours.
 Cheers to everyone in GassamaKunda,

 sidibeh
