Despite the significant contributions of women as producers,
reproducers, agents of socialization, caregivers, nurturers and
supporters of politicians, there is little documented on their
achievements, particularly in politics. That the handbook examines women's
past participation in politics, their accomplishments, their
struggles and future hopes."
On Gender
She is a great believer of social justice for both men and women. She
shares her reasons for coming into the political debate on a
non-partisan basis and says: The reason for coming into the political
debate is because I believe in gender development and equality. This
can only happen if women are included in the political debate.
Communities need to view women as equal partners in development who
deserve all rights to participate and hold such positions. However,
advocating for a level platform for all does not necessarily imply
that one is advocating for one's self. When the field is level, any
interested, qualified person with the required skills and ability can
easily grab the opportunity."
A Great Mum
She did everything to ensure that her daughter has the best of
everything. She sent her to England to acquire a good education to
have a good start and contribute positively to life. We are praying
for Fanta to shine like the Northern Star. Let the light of her
mother shine on her forever.
The Test of Her Strength
When she was falsely accused by reaction, she stood fast and proved
her innocence. We gave her all our support and solidarity and she
emerged victorious. She was fearless. She fought her illness in
bravery and resilience. May her soul rest in perfect peace How do I
mourn a fallen comrade?
I'll pick up the pen and continue to write, to educate, to enlighten,
to advocate for social justice, social inclusion and gender equality.
I'll never let you down sister. I'll miss you in body, your
infectious laughter, your beautiful smile, you compassion, your
grace, your love, your care, your understanding, yes! They will be
part of me till we meet again.
Adieu Sister! Rest in Perfect Peace Till We Meet Again.
Mark Anthony told the whole world that Caesar was an honourable man.
I'll again repeat Amie is saying to the whole world that Satang
Jobarteh was an honourable woman indeed a Shero.
During My Campaign
This resilient fighter gave me 100% solidarity. Together with Binta
Sidibeh, Fatoumata Singhateh, Mary Small, Aunty Adelaide Sosseh-Gaye,
Dr. Siga Jagne, Isatou Touray we braved the storm.
In paying tribute to a shero I have to mention your names. With
Satang we campaigned house to house up to 4 am.
I Have Lost Part of My Soul
I'll miss your physical presence, your infectious laughter,
your beautiful smiles and your companionship but I'll assure you that
I've gained your spirit.
Goodbye sister. I salute you till we meet again.
Sister Amie Sillah
