The CAUSES

IT IS MORE THAN MUSIC, IT IS NEO-COLONIALISM.
The last stage of imperialism.

The WOLLOF TRIBALISM AND SUPERIORITY AND THE DOMINATION OF THESENEGALESE GAMBIAN CULTURE
a.The Wollof and the Assimilation of Western culture and civilation
The Wollofs were the first and main partners to The French invaders. In Senegal the local in the quatre (4) communes of four of Dakar, Goree, St. Louis and Rufsique and were ruled as a provience of france and individuals within these areas were regarded as frenchmen They fought with the French to secure much of french west Africa and allied with the French to Build the first military post of Dakar. The wollofs are the Sea people having their trading states of Walo , Kayor and Baol and Sine on the coastline and prospered very well with the arrival of the Europeans. They also had the inland states of Jolof and Saloum which( later united with Sine) to create Sine Saloum. This time there was no Banjul.only in 1826 that the British have a foot in the north bank of The Gambia, in Niumi, the north bank was all wollof Empire territory.

THE COLONY 1821,
Before 1965, if you do not live in Banjul, the colony and you are found after 5 pm in the streets of Bathurst by the police you will be arrested and detained then deported like a refugee all the way to Soma and you will have to walk the rest of thge distance to your village. Banjul was only for Wollofs, Akus, Portuguses. The wollof were the only original African in their midst. Thery felt white. The building of Banjul was made possible by the wollof Boats and and Jola Navigators. The portuguses who first came to The Guinea Coast and Cape Verde meet the Jola people first and trained them into sailing and Navigation. This is why in Jola have alot of Portuguese silimlarities and traditions.

THE LAST MIGRANTS TO THE GAMBIA FROM SENEGAL
In Banjul the settlements were Soldier town, Jolof and Portuguse town, Half-die formally Mokum for local wollofs and Sereres from Senegal and the Jolas from Portuguse Guinea. They all worked in sailing boat construction and navigation and have also supplied the stones and sand from Dog Island that laid the foundation of Banjul. The contractors of these projects were handed to the wollof who brough in own labourers. The wollof were put in the position of landownership and trading by the Europeans and their Aku friends.

THE WOLLOF OF BANJUL TOWN
These two tribes were the first to settle as Africans in The Island of Banjul. The greater part of the Jolas returned after the construction of Banjul to Foni and to Portuguses Guinea while the wollof continued to live in Banjul as the biggest local presence in The colony. They later held high post in the civil service and served the in the British administration. The Akus broughts with them to the Gambia sun hats and jackets, leather full shoes, Coats and bowties which they will later passed out to the local wollof natives. Most of the Aku families had their favourite wollof family that you fluss out your old clothes and old cooking pots, old tooth brush, whatever. They wollof were also educated in English and they volunteerd willfully for the British as very obedient servants. Yes Sir, Boss

WHEN THE BRITISH LOST SENEGAL
After the British lost the American Revolution they also lost most of their terrotory in West Africa including the island of Goree Saint Louis which the capital of Senegal. Many English speaking Africans who did'nt want stay under French rule migrated to the British island of Bathurst around 1864.The People of Saint Louis, the people of Goree and many more wollofs decided to join the exodus to Banjul from Senegal.

WOLLOFS AND THE OTHER NATIVE TRIBES
The French thought the Wollof how to impose and to discrminate against INLAND tribes. They also help to teach the law to the local people. They helped catched many slaves and have betrayed and spied on inland tribes against the local people. They were alo the voice and the communicator of the white french. They enrolled many wollof men in the army and naturalised them into french citizens before the rest of Africa. They had wollof parliamentarians in Paris way before any other. The wollof fought together with the french against the Arabs and the Moors. The french supplied them with fire power and amunianation. The french erarlier defeated all the wollof states and constructed a train railway (which Lat jor opposed) from Saint louis to the new Capital in Kayor called Dakar. Dakar is the new military and defence station and trading power with the west by-passing Manding , Futa Torro (northern Senegal-lower Mauritania) and ancent Ghana. They wollofs spoke the African wollof
langauge but they acted like frenchmen and superior to other tribes because of their relationship with the master guns and treaties for protection and military alliance.Senegal has the oldest army in Africa which is over 100 years old.

NEGRITUDE IS WOLLOF CULTURE
The French had the worst types of de-humanising and brainwashing method of a people in the entire Africa to a point of co-inventing the Negrritude "The myth of Blak is Emotions and White Intellect".Senegal is a historically brain washed nation. They (Senegal) used to blow the whistle on Ahmed Sekou Toure affected and screwed his relationship with France, they pipped on Yasser Arafats assistance to the ANC, they coexisted with Congo to supress all form of liberalism and progressive mass movements in Africa under the banner of anti-communisim. In Senegal theyhad abandon all forms of African dresses in office and to refrain from Sepeaking wollof in public. Even the uneducated must speak french in public places.'Remember when Miriam Makeba wqas expelled by the white south African regime and she flew to Senegal, they refused her to land in Senegal and she had to go to Guinea instead called upon by President Ahmed Sekou Toure. She lived in Guinea untill Mandela was freed.

WOLLOFS AND THE CULTURAL SELLOUT
Throw away your African dresses.Chayas, Kulambengs and your malans.
There was a song called Chaya Nell Teka, Suma dem mey ndarr hoti tubai meaning my Afican pants get lost,(" when I reach the capital city of Saint Louis I will happily throw my African clothes away and pick up a Pantalon") other songs like Suma Ndow si Tubab la ( My wife is a African wife is European). The wollof have develped together with the french a very dehumanising joke to weak your moral and hurt the pride of other tribes that do not live in the colony.

TRIBAL JOKES AND WOLLOF SUPREMACY
These are the inferior tribal jokes invented by the wollofs to belittle other tribes
1.The Jolas- Jola Jakkut-Ali jow jow wang-ass,(Dress don't matter,only bottoms)
2.The Serere - Jam Senggah-Ubil tat njef Kani- (Naked shameless drunkards)
3.The Fulas- Puel Futa Jabere Banga Sachey Yagana (The thieves)
4.The Bambara- Mondo-Bambara/ ( Dead Flesh Eaters)
5.The Mandingo- Munku by Dozen / Munku sosseh

THE DIFFERENCE between AN ARTIST and a SINGER
Thew role of an artist extend far beyond the stage and concert halls. The artist must be conscious of the plight of his people and stubbornly surviving the system. The artists is an awakener. The vintage point is how the plight of his people relate to humanity. Life offers many options but the life of an honest artist is not an easyone.Understanding your begining and how you developed culturally artisticall and politically., all this reveal the nature of your missionand the importance for the legacy of particapation we have inhertted from the former ones

I see the connection between the problems of all oppressed people and the necessity for the artist to participate fully.
