The above statement is a bit of a departure from your original point that
only women can liberate themselves from the male dominated and chauvinist
society we call The Gambia.

While women have an obligation to also empower themselves through various
means etc, it is also up to the fathers, religious leaders (imams etc) and
community leaders etc to help in this process.  I believe the process will
have to be undertaken jointly by both sexes for inroads to be made towards
smashing this social injustice against women which undoubtredly exists in The
Gambia.

No pun intended but as a Gambian who closely observed the situation while
there, I could not help but add an alternative point of view to your
perspective.
