It seems the hotly contested presidential election in Senegal is headed for a second round of voting between incumbent Abdulai wade and his former prime minster Macky Sall. This says a lot, not just about the maturity of Senegalese democracy, but also about the determination of the people of Senegal, and tenacity of the opposition movement, including members of the civil society.
Unlike opposition leaders in Gambia, who behave like part-time politicians, the Senegalese party leaders have shown maturity, consistency and a resolve that can only be described as suffocating dictatorial tendencies.
