From "Agence France Presse"

CAIRO,Feb 16 (AFP)-Italian Foreign Minister Lamberto Dini said here
Wednesday that the first Euro-African summit will be a chance for his
country to look into alleviating the debts of Africa's poorest countries.
However,"executive decisions(on debt cancellation)are not on the agenda of
the summit," scheduled for April 3-4 in Cairo, he said at a joint news
conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Mussa.
Dini said his country has cancelled "several billions of dollars" in debt.
Italy also intends to promote policies to prevent civil wars and conflicts
between countries in Africa "in cooperation with the European Union, Africa
and the United Nations," Dini added.
A meeting will be held in Pretoria February 21 to
 draw up projects to be
discussed at the Euro-African summit.
