Brother, you folks have to understand that ADB, World Bank, IMF, etc., are
all private institutions, but heavily depends on milking the public sectors,
domestically and internationally. LDC nations, had and will always get the
brunt end the big stick...PUBLIC SUBSIDIES-PRIVATE PROFITS. Even in the
presence of chronic poverty and pathological corruption/mismanagement in
LDC's, these institutions, year after year, comes up with all kinds
profiles/jargons, such as: 5 year development plans, gateway projects,
structural adjustment programs, NAFTA, GATT, Africa Trade Bill, Multilateral
Agreement on Trade, etc. Let's take the case of Gambia and its various forms
of SAP, initiatives and results. Since its inception in the 80's, we've
accepted all of the misguided principles [baits] aimed at encouraging the
pervasive and rotten get rich-quick schemes of privatization, public
divestiture-private [shower-with-gifts] capital inducements and increasing
the productive capacity base [local production, self sufficiency and
exports]. At such a high price at the expense of our grand children to repay,
who on this forum can name me one sponsored project in the Gambia, that
succeeded 80%, with the public at large in mind, or, without some serious
misappropriation of funds or materials? It's such a sad situation that,
Gambians accepts and adores, government officials negotiating loans, grants,
beggar-man syndrome aid packages, in the name of the people, switching planes
to Swiss, Moroccan or USA banks, only to split the loot amongst themselves
and their 'Mansa', next, heading home, just to have a press conference at the
airport tarmac...$100million loan package negotiated and approved...problem
solved...laughing to the bank. The arrogance and lack of morals or morace,
depicted by these criminals, Yahya Jammeh at its helm and dishonorable SOS
Famara Jatta et al. tow, decries logic, understanding or forgiveness.
What's your take on this issue?
