For Gambian politics, the name PPP still stands big even after several years
from power. Many party members of this once dynamic political force are
still playing significant roles in the political process of the nation.
Post 1994 saw how her members join different political forces adding
significant voices to their causes. Their support lend a helping hand in
electing many candidates to offices in the nation. To have the backing and
blessing of the membership of the PPP is absolutely a very good thing.
However, Mr. Lamin Waa Juwara would disagree with that assessment as the
news headline below from the Point News Paper reports. Waa, who is an
executive member of the coalition NADD recently claimed that the withdrawal
of the PPP from the NADD cannot affect the progress of his party.
Juwara's comments came just days after OJ denied claims that the PPP is
departing from NADD. In light of these contrasting points, I wonder what
the deal is in the NADD camp. You have two people representing the same
party coming out with different claims on the same issue. It is troubling!!
NADD and her supporters needs to be realistic about what is going on.
Without the PPP, the NRP, and the UDP, what is left of it- NDAM and PDOIS.
Might as well call it PDOIS/NDAM coalition. None of these two can pull even
a 5-percentage point in the election, much more win the presidency. Please
lets wake up from our dreams and join the real opposition before the victory
ferry leaves the terminal!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please read the news report below from the Point news paper

"Lamin Waa Juwara, an executive member of the opposition National Alliance
for Democracy and Development (NADD) has said that the withdrawal of the PPP
from NADD cannot in any way affect the progress of the Alliance.

Juwara’s reaction came yesterday on the heels of claims and counter claims
by Omar Jallow alias (O.J.) on one side and Yahya Ceesay on the other side
that the PPP had hitherto quit NADD.

For Waa Juwara, NADD is a registered political party who had members of its
supporters standing. This he said was manifested in two successful political
rallies held in Brikama and Sukuta respectively. Mr Juwara hence categorised
PPP members into two; active and the passive members, that the active
members in the likes of Omar Jallow Sonko are all with NADD, whilst passive
members belong to NADD.

Mr Juwara argued that the PPP who should emulate SLPP in Sierra Leone that
went through many turbulences, decided to go the other way round adding that
he was now surprised that when the UDP and NRP pulled out of NADD, some
passive members decided to follow suit"
