Brothers and Sisters of the Gambia-list,

I am afraid it is really getting out of hand now and I have taken it to
myself 'to pour cold water' on it. I would like all those concern in this
non-issue to remind themselves that there are more pressing matters to
address than engaging on names-calling and points-scoring. This List is the
only medium that Gambians have to express their opinions without fear of
persecution. We have to appreciate the values and demerits of Freedom of
Speech. Dr Samuel Johnson gave a fitting definition of Freedom of Speech. He
said:
"Every man has a right to utter what he thinks truth, and every other man
has a right to knock him down for it. Martyrdom is the test."
I am not only attempting to arbitrate, but also In the Name of our beloved
Nation, and for the useful continuation of this Forum, I call on all of you
to stop the 'bickering' and address more important issues. Our house is
burning, let's try to put the fire out before we start speculating on who
the arsonists might be. The Gambia needs us, so let us not waste our time on
trivial matters. I do understand the attitude of some of us because I was
also a victim of something similar to what happen to Saul. But I said to
myself that 'I will not allow any KUMBA
(or SAMBA for that matter) to distract me from the course I take'. The
welfare and prosperity of The Gambia and Gambians are all I am living for
and I believe all true Gambians should focus on that.
I appeal to you all again to put those differences aside and concentrate on
the main and only issue; THE GAMBIA and GAMBIANS.
The fact that I did not send this mail to you privately is deliberate. I
would like all on the List to know my standpoint in your disagreements and
that we would avoid it in the future.
And O.B.Sillah would say "Let Move On".

P.S.
Yusupha Jow, I am glad you are back. Please never leave the bantaba for
anybody.

Prince Coker.
