interesting observation Hous. but i don't believe the sanctions were impose for Democratic reasons in the first place. it has to do with the protection of vested interest of the western community in Zimbabwe. all the shouts and screams about our human rights is a smoke screen. the sanctions will be lifted in Mugabe leaves or if he allow the former status quo to prevail again.
  i am not supporting the over staying of Mugabe but his entanglement with the west seems contradictory in every turn.
the internal solutions to political stalemate doesn't concern the west, they want to be the solution in every conflict. they are now talking of handing over Iraq, you watch who will be next in problem creation, Sudan or Iran? one of those countries will soon be on a pedestal accelerating towards some form of internal war and then they the peace makers will come in. all vested interested unfortunately, it is never about the people of darfur, Iraq or Iran or Zimbabwe. any one who believes otherwise is as naive as the jubilant crowds who greets western soldiers only to be use as collateral damage or mistaken shelling and bombings.
