Halifa,
On behalf of the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy, United Kingdom
[MRDGUK], i write to confirm that the aforesaid *memorandum* you raised
queries about is indeed authentic and bears the official imprint of the
movement's Executive Committee which met on Sunday the 18th. of March, 2001
to discuss matters pertaining to your enquiries and all other issues raised.
We hope - and as the Statement unequivocally stated - we have cleared the air
on all the *clarifications* you sought in the aforesaid Statement.
Again, we wish to re-affirm our earlier call that we are not going to be
drawn into a protracted war of words over issues that has no bearing
whatsoever on the general malaise of our dear country, the Gambia. For the
movement, this is end of matter. The movement has stated its position on all
the issues raised by you and will not involve in exchanges that are
anecdotal, frivolous and querulous.
Any enquirer enquiring along the same lines, is directed to the three
official statements released since the London Briefing Session of Wednesday
28th. of February, 2001 - viewable from this List's archives.
Be informed that just as we conceded your right to remain hostile to our
endeavours, we reserve the right to do as we deem fit and indeed appropriate
for our long term objectives. However, since rights trade on the tacit
acceptance of others to enjoy similar rights - pro rata - we caution in the
name of not only such rights and fairness but in the name of common decency
and courtsey, for you to desist from attempting to belittle, befog, undermine
or debase what we have endeavoured to do and or achieve.
Finally, rest assured that the movement will not take lightly, cynical
attempts that seek to impugn the integrity and credibility of the movement
and by extension what it endeavours to achieve.
Best wishes,

Hamjatta - Kanteh
