The Cruelty continues!

“Pa Nderry is a married man, however, his married is so boring that there is nothing news worthy to report about it on Freedomnewspaper. But other people’s marital affairs are too interesting that they need to hit the headlines as breaking news”

Pa Nderry writes:
BREAKING NEWS: EX- Minister’s Wife Clarifies!! Jainaba Bah Appeals For Calm Among Family Members!!
“Barely two weeks after we ran the piece regarding the strained relationship between former Information Minister Sarjo Jallow and his wife Jainaba Bah, the Former Minister’s wife has emailed the Freedom Newspaper, appealing for calm among family members. Jainaba Bah, in a dispatch to the Freedom Newspaper said she is yet to be divorced by the erstwhile Minister and thus appealed for calm among family members contacting the Freedom Newspaper to vent their anger over the issue. “Fact: Sajo Jallow has married a second woman. I believe your source has some sympathy for me. Family members and friends are still in a state of denial, but hey Sajo Jallow did what many a man is good at doing through history. That is break women’s hearts. Whether you want to call it a mid-life crisis or temporary delirium, the choice is yours.” Said Jainaba Bah

Judging from the ethical perspective of journalism, this letter of Mrs Jainaba Bah Jallow ought not to have been published as it did by Pa Nderry. The letter was personalised to “Dear Mr Mbai” instead of “Dear Mr Editor” or “Dear Freedomnewspaper”. Unless Pa Nderry is confused as to the difference between the letters that are for himself, Pa Nderry Mbai and those that are for freedomnewspaper, he should not have published that letter in such verbatim.

However, I suspected that Mr Mbai is indeed confused as to the disparity, he seems to see Freedomnewspaper as another name for Mr Mbai. Even though, he needs no aid to identify himself as a person and freedomnewspaper as an internet website, yet he interprets letters to Mr Mbai as for freedomnewspaper.

The custom of journalism dictates that personalised letters should not be published as Breaking news, unless such is the desire of the author. From reading the article, I think Mrs Bah Jallow would have preferred something of this context:

“The Editors of the Freedomnewspaper unreservedly appologise to the wife of Ex-Information Minister Sarjo Jallow for our newsarticle published two weeks ago. We wish to clarify that Mr Jallow is still married to his first wife Jainaba Bah and are not divorced as we have published. Mr Jallow and Mrs Jallow are still married (if he can put, are happily married) and have three children instead of two, which we have reported. We wish to appologise to Mrs Bah Jallow, for our news article and thank her for her corrections”. Simple

Unfortunately for Mrs Jallow, freedomnewspaper does not publish apologies. As Ginny Quinn rightly analogized, the victim’s do the apologies to Freedomnewspaper not the contrary. My good friend Lamin Jatta could also be justified to describe Nderry as narcissistic and listless. I mean where in the frigging world, would you read, such an excerpt below, from a married woman describing her husband, who she is still married to and not yet divorced. Have another read again:

“but hey Sajo Jallow did what many a man is good at doing through history. That is break women’s hearts. Whether you want to call it a mid-life crisis or temporary delirium, the choice is yours.” Said Jainaba Bah

“Lii defaa Nyaw wy” or “Nying mulung jaw ya ta bakeh” translated to mean “this is very unpleasant”. If Sarjo Jallow should divorce his wife for these comments on Freedomnewspaper, we will have no one to blame but Pa Nderry, simply, because Jainaba has addressed her letter to Mr Mbai, and not “blimey” Freedomnewspaper.

Surprisingly, Pa Nderry is a married man, however, his married is so boring that there is nothing news worthy about it to report on Freedomnewspaper. But other people’s marital affairs are too interesting that they need to hit the headlines as breaking news.

This is a cruelty that even Yahya Jammeh’s edition of the Daily Observer will not ponder to write.

"If yahya Jammeh was or becomes a newspaper editor, his paper's contents would be nothing more nor less to that of freedomnewspaper!"

Brethren Yanks
