Sister Jabou Joh,

It seems to me that the dice on this collective effort at coalition-building called Save the Gambia Fund has already been cast, at least as far as I am concerned.
To come from Gambia, where ignorance and poverty force people to sell their right to vote for 2 dollars(!) and to entertain the kind of thinking which suggests that "... all over the World those who control the money are the ones who make the decisions..." is not just unimaginative. It is affront to our collective wisdom when some other criteria for participation cannot be determined at this stage. Every progressive-minded Gambian has the duty to abandon such a project for something much more democratic and representative. There are thousands of Gambians all over the world working as scavengers at Europeans subway stations, as construction workers in the West Bank, as farm hands in apple and orange plantations in Spain. To have to submit to the dictats of a tiny collective electronically perched on the internet is a mockery to our history of exploitation by those who wield economic power.
