It would have been easy for me to call it quits and delist myself from G_L
because of some clearly condescending messages from people I considered
elders in this forum and some of the attitude of List management lately. But
I am not a quitter and I refuse to leave the List on my own volition. I am
sending the message below in order to prove a point. Here we have Fatoumatta
Jahumpa even lamenting about the damage we are doing to them to villagers
that have no access to the Internet. But if one looks closely, one will
realize that Jahumpa's main concern, is the message we are relaying to
Opposition leaders back home and to our individual families. It is
heart-breaking for me to sit down and watch people I really considered as
comrades in the struggle, do Jahumpa's dirty work for her. We should not
turn G_L to Daily Observer where Yaya is mystified.

To people that are saying that we are giving Yaya a field day by squabbling
among ourselves, I just caution you to remember where all this started from.
Instead of being condescending to people that can school you in morality and
good manners, we should concentrate on doing what is fair. The onus is also
on List management to dispense justice here. The responsibility for
prolonging this saga should not just rest on us that are saying that List
management was wrong to come down hard on Baba Keita and let Alieu Keita go
scot-free.

We do not need the constant sermons about using appropriate language to put
our points across. Do some of you know how aggravating and embarrassing some
of the mail you send here is? And yet you are the first to mount the pulpit
and start telling people to be civil. We refuse to mystify Yaya. If some
members of the Opposition want to feed their egos by convincing themselves
that they have a formidable adversary in Yaya, they can be my guest. Let us
stop this nonsense about appropriate language or at least apply the rules
uniformly. I care less about Musa Jeng or any of the clowns on G_L that
complain about Yaya being called a moron but you do not hear them writing to
Yaya to complain when Yaya stands on national TV and abuse all our parents.
It would have been very discomforting to me to have the same views as
Fatoumatta Jahumpa on a topic like this. This woman supports a murderer and
want all of us to treat Yaya like a god-like creature. Their biggest threat,
is truth. They do not want Yaya to be unmasked. As I said, this Jahumpa
disease is creeping into Opposition ranks. Some Opposition members also want
to portray Yaya as a god-like creature in order to rationalize their
inability to get rid of Yaya. Well, I do not subscribe to that school of
thought. Yaya will always be a moron and a nonentity to me.

I will cease this discussion when List management and the Musa Jengs of this
world stop their condescension and refrain from telling us to use
appropriate language. Some of us are older than and more experienced than
Musa Jeng and some of the people taking these holier-than-thou postures. For
crying out loud, if you do not like reading certain people, just delete
their mails. Or lead by example by bringing here thought provoking topics
and discussing them in appropriate language. That way people like me will
disappear into irrelevance. To have Musa Jeng, who up to the time Batchi was
reinstated at Nawec was not convinced about Yaya's illogical behavior in his
hiring and firing of civil servants … to have that type of person tell me
what is appropriate or not, is a mockery. Why should we abandon what is
working? The article below culled from the Observer is a testament to the
fact that our campaign is working and any attempt to stifle what we are
doing on G_L, is ill-advised.

Yaya and his cronies are not accusing us of lying or misrepresenting their
record. What they want, is for us to portray Yaya in a way he does not
deserve to be portrayed. To me, the commonsense rule G_L should adopt, is
the rule against lies and hypocrisy. But to have these fluid standards (as
appropriate language according to Musa Jeng) does not help anyone. What is
more demeaning to G_L and The Gambia: for Baba Keita to call Alieu Keita
stupid or to have government functionaries like Essa Sey coming to G_L and
unable to construct simple coherent sentences? Did we hear Musa Jeng et al
tell Essa Sey that he will be delisted if he continues sending here his
mumbo jumbo? Ironically, it was only Prince and Ebou Colly that endeavored
to help Essa with his writing, by laboriously rectifying every snafu Essa
made or suggesting Essa get a proof-reader, respectively. I am just showing
you how ridiculous it is to engage in this censorship business. Again, I
hope the List managers will exercise good judgment and repudiate Yaya and
sympathizers (objective minded) like Musa Jeng. We have more heinous things
to complain about than grieving over whether Yaya is called a moron or
worrying about whether the List will lose its credibility because of the
usage of certain words. To me I think what is hurting the List more, is the
message siding with Fatoumatta Jahumpa sends to Yaya opponents. It is not a
good message. Being someone that really value the work this List is doing, I
appeal to List Management to trust subscribers and not venture the perilous
waters of censorship. All we are trying to do, is to unmask Yaya and his
cohorts.

FJC tackles Jammeh's critics
The director of press and public relations at State House, Fatoumatta
Jahumpa Ceesay, has censured critics of President Jammeh and his
administration, accusing them of spreading false information and slandering
responsible personalities. Addressing an APRC rally at Mandaur, a suburb of
Brikama Sunday, Mrs Jahumpa Ceesay accused unnamed critics of the Jammeh
administration of using the media to spread unfounded stories about the
government and its leadership, just to gain international 'recognition and
sympathy." She called on the public to refrain from tarnishing people's
image in the newspapers and on the internet and to do away with undue
confrontations.
