Hi,

You may contact the Physical Planning Unit at Marina Parade for the Maps and
the Central Statistics Department for the Names on the census list. You may
check on the gamtel directory at www.gamtel.gm for their telephone numbers.

I don't think there is any standard in naming places in the Gambia. In
fact some places are named even before the authories know they exist. Names
normaly depend on who the first settlers i.e wollof for places with Kerr,
Fula for places with Sareh and mandinkas for places ending wilh ..ya(..ia).
some names depends on who is spelling them, no official spelling. they
basically mean the same.

Hope this will help.
Gai
