Halifa Sallah and his Pdios´s position towards the justified and successful
London Briefing session of the 28th February 2001 is prompting me to raise
some
questions to Mr..Sallah again. I have difficulties to understand the
position or
the relationship between Mr..Sallah / pdios and the Gambian opposition in
one
hand, and with jammeh/aprc in the other. Therefore, I will re-state some of
my
earlier questions plus the new ones.
Even though, one disagreed to the positions of some members of the disarray
or
dead "moja -g", who shamelessly but are honest to exposed their true collar
openly by participating in the crimes jammeh & co are committing against the
peace loving people of the Gambia. However I am afraid the same cannot be
said
of pdios, therefore am here raising the following questions to pdios´s Mr.
Halifa
Sallah
1. Why should you often -if not always make parallelism or comparison
between
Jawara/ppp and Jammeh/aprc whenever critics are raised against Jammeh?
2. Do you think that Jawara/PPP's economic & human right crimes are on the
same
level with that of Jammeh/aprc?
3. For fairness sake, do you think that Jawara/PPP government is capable of
gun
down unarmed students? Have you witnessed the student/youth demonstrations
in
1968,69 and 70?
4. If one reduce the London meeting to mere briefing the British MPs because
of
the Gambian refugees in UK, that is belittling the efforts and purposes,
isn´t?Don´t you think that your reactions to London meeting is out of
pettiness or the fantasy that whatever is not Halifa/Pdios is
unprogressive,bankrupt and unintelligent?
Would it be fair if one is also saying that pdios´s present at labour party
congress was a matter of looking for economic help? Or was Halifa Sallah
trying
to expose himself to an international arena by traveling to Europe prior to
1996 elections because he have the hope then that he and his party will file
the
power vacuum after the elections?
5. Is it fair to claim that pdios/Halifa is more hostile to Jawara´s regime
than
to Jammeh´s because (a) Halifa is more expose (positively) both national and
international in Jammeh´s era. (b)That Halifa is encouraged to be a
statesman
(status quo) in jammeh´s era. (c)Halifa is in political solidarity with
Jammeh
but ideological indifference. It seems that you have difficulties with the
oppositions. Are you an opposition to the oppositions ,or is it that the
other oppositions ( with the exception of Pdios) aren't reasonable?
6. Halifa Sallah ,can you honestly make reflections of the following
points.(a)Your political role during the transition.(b) Halifa been the only
unstop politician of the first republic during the transition.(c) Your stand
or
explanation on the death of Koro Ceesay,Sadibou Hydra,Basirou Barrow &
co.(d)
Gunning down unarmed students, "and let the law take its course with
toothless
or fake commission of inquiry"
7. Is it fair to claim that "comrade "Halifa Sallah have a complex because
he
believes that he alone knows what is best for the Gambia
8. Hence pdios is the oldest political party in the Gambia but far from the
biggest, don't you think that you need to make a reflection why the quantity
is
not matching with the age?
9. Isn't that Jammeh & co are destroying our peace loving country? If yes is
the answer
to this question ,isn't better for the opposition to have some points of
agreement or co-operation so to unseat Jammeh? And if so is the case, are
you
honestly believing that your attitude is helping the process of such a
co-operation or agreements.
10. Mr. Sallah, you have been mentioning the resources contributions of
Gambians
in diaspora to their respective party of choice, do you think it will be
fair if
one is saying that you and your party is only interested in material /
economic
resources from the Gambians living in abroad? Would that not tantamount to
"milking " or trying to exploit your fellow country folk- most of whom are
struggling very hard so that
the means can meet the needs?
11. It is often said that pdios is a party of difference (like Jammeh
claimed to
be a solider of different ?), and therefore will not be corrupted, bribe or
buy
votes in whatsoever-fine. What would one call it, if one MP put certain
percent
of his salary to a fund for a development of his /her constituency likes in
the
case of Wuli, which you are all proud of? Is that not bribing or corrupting
the
voters of Wuli to vote for Hon Sidia Jatta. Why can't you give that sum to
Foni
Bintang area for the development of that area if the reasoning is not to
bribe/corrupt the voters to vote for Hon Sidia Jatta?
12. Mr.Sallah, why do you think that your party comrade won the elections in
Wuli but you lost to a total newcomer? Is it because of your party policy,
program or personalities involved in both constituency-Wuli and Serre Kunda
respectively? What do you think the results of the election will be if you
Halifa happen to contest in Wuli while Sidia contest in Serre Kunda? Do you
think you will win if you contest in Serre Kunda again independent of OJ or
not?Did it ever come across your mind that you will be more effective as an
educationist than a party politician?
Hence one seek to look for the affairs of our be love country,we as an
individuals or group have a legitimate right to raise our doubts and
questions, and on the bases of that i raised the above questions in good
faith.
Thank you sir
  FC
