Abdoulie Kujabi, the former director general of the National Intelligence
Agency (NIA), was Tuesday reportedly taken to the State Central Prison, Mile
2, by the police.
The reason for the arrest of Mr Kujabi is not known and he is said to be
held incomminicado.

In a related development, Mr Kujabi’s two younger brothers were also been
arrested.
James Kujabi, the former deputy chief of protocol at the Office of the
President, his wife, Fatou Fatty-Kujabi and Ansumana Kujabi were arrested by
the NIA on Monday and reportedly detained at the agency’s headquarters in
Banjul.

“The reason for James’s arrest and subsequent detention at the NIA
headquarters is in connection with supplies of bags of rice he took from
Youth Development Enterprise, which cost over D100,000,” an NIA insider told
Daily Observer. He was later released on Tuesday together with his wife.

Meanwhile, the imam of Airport Mosque, Al-Haiba Hydara was also arrested on
Monday and reportedly detained in Janjangbureh Prison.

Police sources confirmed the arrest yesterday but when contacted, the police
public relations officer, Aziz Bojang, refused to comment.
