Soccer fans across The Gambia would in less than one hour troop down to
various stadia in the country for scintillating and earth-trembling matches
in the GFA 2nd Division league. In today's encounters, Young Africans would
engage Interior FC in a pitched battle at the Banjul mini-stadium. Samger FC
are hoping to show their superiority to Hamham FC at Serekunda West
mini-stadium whilst Tallinding United looks forward to engaging Jambanjelly
on a knife-edge encounter at the national stadium in Bakau. Serekunda East
and Nema United would also battle it out at Serekunda East mini-stadium
later this evening.

How fast time flies, especially when one is in good company .In less than
two months to come, the Gambia Red Cross Association would play host to over
500 youths from across the country and beyond for a 10-day youth forum. The
event, which would feature many sporting activities such as football,
basketball, volleyball and athletics, would draw youths from The Gambia,
Senegal, Iceland, Mali among others, to compete, brainstorm and meet and
associate with a view to establishing as well as consolidating an excellent
relationship between Red Cross volunteers from various countries.

The youth forum was an annual event but was reduced to a bi-annual one
dueto some logistical challenges. This year's event would be hosted by
the
Kanifing Municipality Chapter of the Gambia Red Cross Society.

The Gambia Cricket Association has recently benefited from a UK-based
international company as part of efforts to popularize the alien game in the
country. Ram International Company Limited recently gave a boost to the
cricket association at a ceremony held at the July 22 Square in Banjul.

Speaking on the occasion, the President of the Gambia Cricket Association,
Mr. Sonny Manly, thanked the company for their support in promoting cricket
in The Gambia and other countries in the sub-region. He singularly thanked
Mr. William Eve for his valued involvement in promoting the relatively
unpopular sport in the country.

For his part, the Vice President of the Gambia Cricket Association, Mr.
Junny Gomez, thanked Ram company on behalf of his association and assured
them that the items would be put to good use. Mr. Fabakary Dampha of Ram
International presented the gifts on behalf of
the company.

In another development, the Gambia Cricket Association would today host an
international cricket championship dubbed West-North Africa
CricketChampionship. The
tournament is expected to kick-start today and ends May 18. It is the first
of its kind to be hosted on the West African sub-region and two cricket
associations in Mali and Morocco would be making their debut appearances in
the tourney. The championship would feature six teams. The Gambia Cricket
Association now seeks support from the government, parastatals and
individuals to make the championship the success it so
deserved.

deemed it imperative to contribute his quota to the development of sports in
his native village of Brufut in Western Region of The Gambia. Mr. Jallow,

gesture represents my humble contribution towards the enhancement of sports
in Brufut. I hope it would be appreciated and better utilised for the
